ManFeast at Liasion College

In an event that all foodies in Brampton would have loved, ManFeast took over the dining area of Liaison College. ManFeast is a simple concept: to push the envelope by challenging the community to pull off some impressive gastronomical feats. There were three options for the brave souls who walked through the doors at 350 Rutherford Rd. S. Two of them were based on size, as a 5 lb. burrito and a 5 lb. hamburger (which was accompanied by a pound of fries) gave many a chance to see just how much food their stomachs could take in one 30 minute sitting. A third challenge, which asked guests to eat 16 chicken wings at 8 different spice levels ranging from one to “you’ve got to be kidding this is so hot”, was a definite crowd-pleaser as many in attendance cheer on the participants as they attempted the 8th and final level. The entire event was a blast, and the students and their teacher worked together to create an evening that I know I, as well as everyone in the room, will remember for a very long time.

Oinktoberfest!
It was a rainy day in Liaisonville when Chef Jeffrey Kenny got his competitive juices a-flying, and he decided to enter in a wondrous competition called Ointoberfest in Clarence, NY for a weekend of BBQ.
Well, this would consume him for many weeks leading to the event scheduled for September 23-25th. So as the heavens opened up, and the angles sang, it hit him like too much wasabi in a spicy sushi roll...
‘Would our student body be interested in expanding their culinary journey’?
So with a tremendous Yuuuuupppppp!!! it was set. The Competition...Oinktoberfest; The Place...Clarence, New York; The Teams...Grill’in Hangover, My First Smoke, Ali G and his Smok’in Hot Chicks, Harry Porker and the Philosophers Smoke, and of course Chef’s team: Happy Smoke’more. The stage was set for this epic culinary showdown!
As passions were being fed and the anticipation of slow cooked succulent meats danced in our heads, we ventured on! Over 80 teams from both Canada and the United States, and only a handful of awards to hand out, but we were a determined bunch. Please note: heavily passionate students + competitive mentor = Fun!!!
Results!!!
Day One!
| 1st place dessert | Happy Smoke’more |
| 3rd place side | My First Smoke! |
Day Two!
| 1st place dessert with a Perfect Score (180) | Happy Smoke’more |
| 4th place dessert | Ali G and his Smokin hot Chicks |
| 5th place Side Dish | Ali G and his Smokin hot Chicks |
| 6th place chilli | Grill’in Hangover |
| 4th place Pork | Harry Porker and the Philosophers Smoke |
| 5th place chilli | Harry Porker and the Philosophers Smoke |
For the students’ first crack at a competition of this magnitude, coming home with EIGHT AWARDS, the value of THE EXPERIENCE, TEAM WORK, and most importantly the added bonus of working with FOOD, we’d say this was a very successful weekend.
